Volunteer

About Volunteering

Parents are asked to be an active part of the school community by giving at least 20 hours to the school or parish over the course of a school year.

There will be volunteer opportunities, such as cleaning, upkeep of grounds, and special projects, throughout the year. Parents are asked to track their hours on special cards or sheets provided.

Parental involvement is intended to help parents teach children, by example, that service is an important part of being a Christian.

In addition, it shows children the high value that parents place on their education by their involvement in the school. It also helps the school free up funds for other needs.

When making specific commitments of time and talent to the school, please call in advance if you are unable to fulfill the commitment.

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer in the Kitchen
You may  want to inquire about volunteering in the kitchen.

We have a few days every month that require volunteer help serving the students, with a time commitment of approximately 10:45 - 1:00. (no cooking required!)

If you would like to be on the list of people we may call, you can contact the school office, or email Cathy and Adele at: food-service@cdolinc.net

Room Parents
Room parents are responsible for planning and coordinating special parties, assisting with field trips, and helping the teacher with special projects or requests.  (Please discuss ideas with teachers.)

Other Opportunities
Throughout the year, there are many other opportunities to volunteer for school or parish events.
Please watch the website and read the newsletter and parish bulletins for opportunities to share your time and talent.

Background Checks are required by the Diocese of Lincoln for all parent volunteers.

We have completed this process for our teachers and staff, and we will be asking parents who volunteer in the school and accompany the students on field trips to fill out the additional paperwork required.

Adults are also asked to view a 23 minute video on the reporting of child abuse. You may check out this video from the office and watch it at home. We appreciate you taking time to view this film.

Once you have completed the background check and viewed the film, your information will remain on file as long as your child is a student at North American Martyrs. This is not an annual process.

Thank you for your cooperation.
