Boys Town Social Skill: Resisting negative peer pressure (older students)/ accepting winning appropriately (Sep. 23 – 27)

Resisting Peer Pressure:

Look at the person
Use a calm, assertive voice tone
State clearly that you do not want to engage in the inappropriate activity
Suggest an alternative activity and give a reason
If the person persists, continue to say “no”
If the peer will not accept your “no” answer, ask him or her to leave or remove yourself from the situation

Accepting Winning Appropriately:

Look at the person or members of the team who lost
Remain pleasant but not overtly happy or celebratory
congratulate the other person or team for a good dame and for trying
Do not brag or boast about winning

Virtue: Orderliness (Sep. 23 – 27) –Keeping oneself physically clean and neat and one’s belongings in good order

Community Events

Pius X Cheer Camp– The Cheer Team at Lincoln Pius X High School is hosting its annual Junior Cheer Clinic from 3:30 to 5:30 pm, Saturday, Sept. 21 in the Pius X Commons. The kids will learn cheer routines through a variety of fun activities and have an opportunity to perform their cheers during the Pius X home football game starting at 7pm on Friday, Oct. 4. Pius X Basketball- Thunderbolts Youth Basketball is hosting Open Gym for all Junior High boys grades 7-8 at Pius X High School. This is open to all Junior High Boys grades 7-8. They will be finished playing no later than 8:00pm. Rides can pick up at any time if your son needs to leave early.
